I’m pretty sure that green smoothies are the elixir of gods. They make my body feel vibrant, healthy, and, well, like that of a goddamn super hero. So I challenged myself to drink one every day for an entire week.

You guys.

I discovered something a few days ago that made me want to bang my head against the wall.

Repeatedly.

The probiotic that I had been taking to help heal my gut and get my gut flora back in balance contained MILK. As in the stuff that I’ve known I can’t eat since I was a wee lass and have been strictly avoiding for the past two months.

You can imagine what that was doing to my body.

Bloating.

Constipation.

Headaches.

Puffiness under my eyes.

And the coup de grace? A goddamn cold sore.

😭

So, instead of looking for a new probiotic to play Russian Roulette with my stomach, I decided to do something I knew would actually make me feel good: drink a whole lotta green smoothies. And because I’m never one to do something willy-nilly, I decided to do it for an entire week.

That’s right. 7 days of green smoothie action.

I’m pretty sure that my body wanted to give me a high five after the week was over because of how good it was feeling. I plan to continue sipping on some (green) smoothies for another 7 days, and another 7 days after that.

Because that’s what you do when you find something that makes you feel like a goddamn super hero again.

Here are the 7 green smoothies that will have you feeling like a goddamn super hero, too.

1. Banana, Mango, and Avocado Green Smoothie from Emilie Eats

This is one seriously rich and creamy smoothie. It’s also super bright and feels like the fountain of youth going down. I found that the smoothie was sweet enough on its own and didn’t need any extra help from the dates or stevia.

2. Post-Workout Green Smoothie from Gimme Some Oven

I’m pretty sure I was breathing fire with this one due to the fresh ginger. And I’m not saying that because it was BAD — I still downed it in 5 seconds flat. It just took my mouth a little while to adjust to the spiciness. I’m probably a wuss, though, having cut out all other spice from my diet.

3. Mango Green Tea Smoothie from Cooking Classy

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that this smoothie was the very first time I had ever a.) brewed my own iced tea and b.) ever thought to put it in a smoothie. And OMG was it good. This may be the thing that gets me to drink (and enjoy) green tea. At least it’s hidden under a pile of fruit.

4. Strawberry, Pineapple, and Kale Smoothie from Damn Delicious

I’m going to be honest here: I did not take the time to make this in two separate steps. I literally threw everything into the blender, pulsed it until it was smooth, and downed it. Yes, it was the color of baby poop and not the stunning picture of health from the original post. But it was damn delicious (pun only kind of intended).

5. Pineapple Paradise Green Smoothie from Culinary Hill

This smoothie was a fill-in for another green smoothie that ended up being absolutely inedible. It was so bad, y’all, that I had to dump it out. Over to Pinterest I went, in hopes of finding a smoothie that would erase the absolute horror of that smoothie. Thankfully, this smoothie was everything I could have hoped for and more. It was simple, green, and sweet in all the right places. Thank you Culinary Hill for saving the day and helping me feel like a badass once again.

6. 4-Ingredient Green Smoothie from Yours Truly

I would seriously be an idiot for not including one of my own green smoothies into the mix. This happens to be a favorite, and was a nice follow-up to the Pineapple Paradise Green Smoothie above. The contrast between having avocado versus not having avocado was kind of fun.

7. Green Adrenal Tonic Smoothie from Om Nom Ally

You could say that I saved the best for last with this one. It was literally the culmination of every smoothie up until this point. There was citrus, there was ginger, there was KALE. It was warm, sweet, and utterly refreshing. And I didn’t even include all of the optional goodies in the recipe list. So there is clearly room to grow with this one.

7 deliciously green smoothies to help you feel like a goddamn super hero all week long. In fact, you’ll likely feel so good that you won’t want to go back to eating anything else for breakfast. Not speaking from experience or anything, here.
