The theme for Day 1 of The August Break was breakfast. Which, as you know, is highly appropriate for me.
Here’s the hitch: Day 1 was technically yesterday.
Already bucking the system and I haven’t even started the challenge yet. Heh.
This recipe is way too good not to share. It’s so good, in fact, that The Hubster has already had it twice.
You may think this is normal behavior for someone living under this roof. And if we were talking about me, you would be right. But we’re not. We’re talking about The Hubster. And he doesn’t like smoothies because he never things they are cold enough.
I think he may be confusing smoothies with milk shakes.
But this smoothie is like summer in a glass. And that makes it incredible. Even if you’d rather be having milk shakes.
It brought me out of my every-smoothie-tastes-the-same rut. It brought The Hubster out of his every-smoothie-is-too-warm rut.
Whatever rut you’re in, do yourself a favor and pour yourself a tall glass of strawberry-watermelon-and-lime goodness.

- 2 cups (seedless) watermelon chunks + any extra juice
- 6-8 strawberries, hulled
- 1/2 lime, peel and seeds removed
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup water*
- Combine all ingredients into a blender. *If you don't have any juice from the watermelon, add 1/4 cup water (or more as needed).
- Pulse on high until smoothie.
- Pour into a tall glass.
- Drink it in.
- Love it.
- Savor it.
- Do it all over again.
