100 Days of Blogging

Still crazy (and writing) after all these days…

While the rest of the city is watching the Penguins game, I’m sitting here blogging and thinking about why I’m still writing every day. (For the record, I’m on Day 115.) The short answer is, I like it. The longer answer is, I’ve come this far, ain’t no way I’m stopping now. I have come to find the act of writing and reflecting and documenting my life on a daily basis to be incredibly powerful. It gets me to stop and think, to take the time to enjoy the things I’m experiencing, and to actually take pictures of something other than the flowers we check out on our walks. So...

14 of my favorite posts from #100DaysBlogging

One thing that I found interesting throughout the 100 Days of Blogging, was that the posts I loved weren’t always the most popular ones. Sadly, I can’t go back and see which posts were the most popular for the entire duration of the project, but I CAN share with you my favorites. So here they are, in the order I wrote them, with a little bit about WHY I love them as much as I do. 2/100: Dear Self. This post wrote itself while I was laying in bed with oily, greasy hair. It was super fun to write and unlike anything I had every written before. Two days in,...

I dreamed about it. I did it. Now here are the highlights.

I’ve been thinking (and talking) a lot about what the last 100 days has meant to me and what I’ve learned — about myself, about blogging, about life in general — in the process. While I’m not 100% certain I can fully speak to the impact of this experience, I did want to share some of my initial thoughts. Below are 10 things that stand out so far: Public accountability is a really big deal. Whenever I try to do something on my own, I manage to stick with it for 1-2 weeks tops before abandoning ship. When I publicly commit to doing something — whether that’s sticking with a...

100/100: Do you know what can you accomplish in 100 days?

Alternative titles for this post: HOLY SHIT, I did it. And, The end of (100) days. But Headline Analyzer didn’t like those as much. JERK. I’m still trying to process everything that has transpired over the last 100 days, but at the end of it all, I’m really fucking proud of myself for doing it. I honestly didn’t think I had it in me — the dedication, the stamina, the commitment to sit my ass down and blog every single day for 100. But here I am, on Day 100, STILL WRITING. All of those stories I kept telling about myself — about how I couldn’t do something this big,...

Pineapple Orange Smoothie

I straight up didn’t get the chance to photograph this one, let alone take a sip, before The Babe grabbed it out of my hands and began to ooh and ahh over it. She was enamored by the color and couldn’t wait to put the straw in and slurp it up. Admittedly, I felt the same way about it, but was able to show a bit more restraint. I guess that’s what happens when you become an adult. Either that, or I’m a total sucker and can’t say no to my kid. Next time, I’ll just make a double batch so that there won’t have to be any back and...
