There are few things better in this world than bananas and peanut butter.

And by few things, I’m pretty much just talking about chocolate and peanut butter.

Okay. And maaaaaybe french fries. But that would probably warrant an entirely separate post.

And you all probably know about my love affair with smoothies. It’s no secret that they are a go-to breakfast and snack option around here.

And while I love all of the different flavor combinations, add-in’s, and healthy sneak-in’s (avocado and kale, I’m talking to you), the truth is I sometimes crave a super simple concoction.

I tend to find that the more basic the ingredients are (whether we’re talking smoothies or a main dish), the better something is.

This peanut butter and banana smoothie is just that: pure and simple.

And incredibly delicious.

Hubster-approved, even. (He’s requested this no less than 5 times in the past week.)

And while the healthy opt-in’s are great (chia seeds, rolled oats, flax meal), they almost seem more complicated than their worth. But I’ll let you be the judge on that one.

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

Save Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1-2 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (we use Unsweetened Almond)
  • 2-3 ice cubes*
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats*
  • * = Optional

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend on low to medium speed until smooth.
  3. Pour into favorite glass.
  4. Sip.
  5. Slurp.
  6. Lick the glass clean.
