Ingredients for a Strawberry Orange Smoothie

There is just something about this time of year that begs for smoothies. Maybe it’s the appearance of fruits back in the store. Or maybe it’s just that I have gotten tiiiiiiired of eating heavy carby things…for breakfast. (Please. I still love carby things.)

Out with the baked oatmeal and in with the smoothies. It’s the natural order of things.

Oranges for Strawberry Orange Smoothies

My new favorite smoothie combination of the moment: strawberry and orange.

Kind of not sure why, but I’m going with it. Though, thinking it may have something to do with the big bag of oranges left over from my two week juicing endeavor. Also, strawberries have been popping up in the store and therefore in my refrigerator.

Okay, okay. So maybe I really do know why the combination has come about. Doesn’t make it any less delicious. Or craving-worthy.

And because I eat with my eyes as well as my mouth, I decided against adding a handful of spinach for fear that it would turn a muddy brown. Pink is pleasing to the eyes and the mouth. Muddy brown, not so much.

If you are braver than I am, feel free to add a handful. You may just want to make sure that you are using a jar you can’t see through.

Strawberry Orange Smoothie

  • 5 strawberries, hulled
  • 1 orange, peeled and quartered
  • 1/4 cup green grapes
  • 1 tbs chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup almond milk (or milk of your preference)


  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and puree until desired consistency.
  2. Pour into your favorite glass, and sip sip sip the day away.
