Simplify, simplify.

"Our life is frittered away by details. Simplify, simplify." Thoreau

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are way too many decisions that need to be made on a daily basis? I swear I’m making at least 100 decisions every day, from the smallest of decisions to the biggest, life altering ones. Occasionally, I get to my breaking point and just plain shut down. I refuse to make a decision; craving that someone will just tell me what to do so that I can follow for a change. I think that’s why I freakin’ love the themed menu plan so much. It literally takes away 90% of the decisions that I have to make around dinner for the...

Make today ridiculously amazing.

I have to admit, I’m kind of in love with this mantra: Make today ridiculously amazing. Like, totally in love with it. Because, seriously, why shouldn’t every day BE ridiculously amazing? And not in a superficial way. But in the deepest, most incredibly satisfying way. How much better would your day (week, month, year…) be if you were able to find joy, amazement, and sheer wonder in everything you do? I know I’m going to take a lesson from my 5-week old; the world is an amazing place. Here for us to discover, enjoy, and take in. I hope you find a ridiculous amount of amazing in your day. X+O...

Don’t be a victim of negative self-talk.

"Don't be a victim of negative self-talk. Remember—you are listening!" Bob Proctor

I came across this nugget from Bob Proctor on Pinterest. “Don’t be a victim of negative self-talk. Remember—you are listening!” It was linked to a really great article from Marc and Angel Hack Life. Like most things in my life, it has come at the exact right time. I’ve been focusing a lot on the negative side of things—how much my back hurts, how little I’ve been able to accomplish each day (you know, because keeping an infant ALIVE is minor…), and how tired I am. The negative crap running through my brain has made it really hard to enjoy the things that I am accomplishing each day (showering! getting...

Motivation Monday: Love and Babies.

"Love can change a person the way a parent can change a baby—awkwardly, and often with a great deal of mess." Lemony Snicket

I’ve got baby on the brain (obviously), as my due date has officially come and gone. This quote from Lemony Snicket… Love can change a person the way a parent can change a baby—awkwardly, and often with a great deal of mess. …seemed to be the perfect segue into parenting. Full of love and dirty diapers. For all you moms (and dads) out there: What are some of your favorite stories from the first days and weeks with your newborn? — PS—I’ve been working hard to schedule out posts for when the baby really does come. Which may or may not have happened at this point. I will be making...

Wherever you are, be all there.

"Wherever you are, be all there." Jim Elliot

(Image Source: Abby Hyslop) Loving this quote from Jim Elliot (and illustration from Abby Hyslop): Wherever you are, be all there. It’s not the first time I’ve heard it, nor the first time it’s felt meaningful, but it’s definitely something that is sticking with me as we await the arrival of Baby Levenson. I want to make sure that with everything that comes my way—through labor, delivery, and the first everything with this baby and beyond—that I am all there. Taking in every detail. And just being all in. No multi-tasking. No wishing I were somewhere else. No feeling guilty about not doing work. Just enjoying every second spent with...
