15 movies that are so bad, they’re good.

Perhaps it was due to the movies I watched as a young and impressionable child. Or maybe it has to do with my love for all things fantastical (and vampirish), but I’m a huge fan of movies that are so bad they’re good. You know, the ones that you’re totally embarrassed to admit to liking but if it’s ever on TV, you immediately turn it on and thank The Television Gods for making your day and/or evening.

In an attempt to relax this weekend and take some much needed down time, I began to peruse Amazon Prime to see what movies I could put on. I was trying to decide between Sleeping Beauty and I, Frankenstein. Nothing was really appealing, but needed something mindless to fill in the time.

I realized something about myself in that moment. Instead of going for the higher rated movie and trusting the opinions of complete strangers, I consciously chose the one that had the LOWER rating.

Yep. I went for the one that was bad (2-star rating), knowing that it could be horrible but also amazing.

It ended up being exactly what I thought. A B-Flick about witches and faeries and the story of Sleeping Beauty. And it was exactly what I needed in that moment.

In honor of that realization, and a need to compile a list of some of my favorites that are so bad, they’re good, I present you with this list in no particularly order.

15 movies that are so bad, they’re good:

  1. Lionheart
  2. Hard to Kill
  3. Total Recall
  4. Fifth Element
  5. Buffy The Vampire Slayer
  6. Underworld
  7. Mannequin
  8. Face/Off
  9. National Treasure
  10. Center Stage
  11. Step Up
