This week I’m switching things up and having my friend and fellow self-help junkie, Jessica I. Lutz, share 5 books that have totally transformed her life.

I’m not going to lie, I was ridiculously excited to see what Jessica would share because she is an avid reader who happens to be interested in a lot of the same topics that I am. Believe me when I say her Instagram Feed (and Stories) is a treasure trove of resources and titles to add to your reading list.

So here you have it, folks, 5 books that changed Jessica’s life for the better and why.

I set a goal for myself at the beginning of the year to read 26 books in 2018. I wasn’t sure what my bandwidth would be for reading since I hadn’t made much time for it last year and didn’t want to push myself too hard.

I figured a book every other week would be doable.

A stretch, but still doable.

I’m happy to report that I have finished 25 books, with another 10 or so that I’ve started but didn’t finish for one reason or another (Exponential Living*, Believe Bigger*, The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality*, The Little Book of Hygge*, Walk Like a Buddha*, and Present Over Perfect* all come to mind in that category).

The following six books are the ones I’ve enjoyed the most and would whole-heartedly recommend if you’re looking for a book in the personal development, memoir, or non-fiction category. I even threw in a heart-warming novel for funsies.

9 books that changed my life for the better

9 must-read books that changed the way I view the world

If you hadn’t guessed by now, I’m an avid reader. I love nothing more than to fill up my library queue with 7 or 8 books at a time and then plow through them night after night. (Case in point.) I even love “live tweeting” what I’m reading and often share what has lovingly been dubbed as literary tweets.

When I think back on the books that have left an indelible mark on my life, there were 9 books that came to mind. Each of them were game changers for me; coming into my life at the exact right moment in time. Some created utter and complete paradigm shifts in the way I viewed and understood the world, others were the pep-talk from a girlfriend that I didn’t know I even needed, while others still have become the touchstone for how I operate in this world.

They are what keep me coming back time and again to the written world of books and libraries. And they are also what keeps me searching for that next story or study that will crack me open and teach me something new about myself and the world.

So, here are the 9 books on my must-read list that have changed my life for the better. Listed here in alphabetical order because HOW COULD I CHOOSE WHICH ONE I LOVE MOST?!
